Per the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), coronaviruses make up a large family of human and zoonotic viruses that are prevalent in humans and many different species of animals, including camels, cattle, cats, and bats. The coronavirus name is derived from the crown-like spikes on the virus’ surface.
